Refreshing apples...

Sadly, the Four Days Marches did not pass our Elst branch on 19 July due to the heat. The apples we had purchased for the walkers did not go to waste—we donated them to the Druten Food Bank.

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, the world-famous walk around Nijmegen was finally allowed again. The Four Days Marches pass through Elst every year, and we had prepared a pallet full of apples to hand out to the walkers.

Heat

What could be more refreshing than an apple on a hot summer day? Unfortunately, the weather gods had other plans. On 17 July, the organisers of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches cancelled the first day of walking due to the predicted heatwave. That also meant there would be no passage through Elst, where our office is located.

Food bank

That left us with a rather large amount of apples! Fortunately, we were able to make the Druten Food Bank very happy with them.
We wish all the walkers a great time and good luck!
