How many smoke detectors are required in a house?

Self-contained houses (single-family houses, flats or studios) and HMOs must be equipped with at least one smoke detector on each floor (level). In HMOs, each room must also be equipped with one or more smoke detectors, depending on the type of house. You are always free to have more fire detectors installed.
